The more big brands in the computing industry that join the notebook bandwagon, the more Apple lovers want Apple to offer its own interpretation of a notebook, and sooner then later would be nice.
There have been many supposed pictures leaked of what the apple notebook may look like, though no one can be sure quite yet. Some are expecting a traditional design, but don’t be surprised if the Mac Tablet gets revived. The Apple tablet would most likely replace the stylus pen with the multi-touch technology of the much loved iPhone. This rumor was given even more fuel when a company in Taiwan said that it was supplying 10-inch touch screens to Apple. As we all know, netbooks generally have screens from 7-10 inches in size. Coincidence? That is for you to decide.
If Apple really is entering the notebook market, what are some of the things we can expect? One of the biggest issues with the netbook market is that they all seem to be the same, with little to no technology differences. So in order for Apple to keep up it’s reputation and stand out different among the other netbook available, there would need to be a few changes.
If Apple does release an Apple mini notebook, the keyboard is will mostly likely be the biggest difference. Will they follow the pack and opt for the undersize keyboards? Or, another option is the touch screen keyboard previously mentioned. Everyone is curious as to which Apple will choose. If they do go the touch screen route, it would most likely be a 10-inch version of the iPhone’s touch-screen.
When it comes to the size of the apple tablet, there really are only three options available to Apple:
- They could build a 9-inch to 10-inch Mac netbook.
- Or they could miniaturize the former tablet PC to a netbook size
- Last but not least, they can simply create a larger iPod touch, most likely being around 7 inches
Next is the issue of the Operating System. Obviously, the apple mini laptop would be running some sort of variation of the Mac OS on its future netbook. The question is though, will they provide the netbooks with a full version of the Mac OS or will they use a version like that found on the iPhone, a stripped down version? The benefits of using a stripped down version would be a very very long battery life. On the other hand, the full Mac OS can do so much more. So it is a touch decision to make. Ha-ha.
When it comes to the connection of the Apple tablet, there is one big question. Will they apple netbook support 3G? 3G pretty much allows mobile devices all over the world to connect even where there is no phone signal. The down side to the tablet having 3G is that it would make the Apple netbook one of the more expensive in it’s class.
As you can see, there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to the release of an Apple tablet. Rest assured though, that when apple does jump into the netbook craze, they are going to be making a splash. They haven’t let us down yet. Just wait until closer to 2010 to know for sure what Apple has in store for the world.
