Since more people are also considering telecommute jobs, the demand for reasonably-priced and light laptops are on the rise. This is why Hewlett Packard (HP) came up with their version of an HP netbook – the HP Mini laptop.

HP Netbooks: Putting Everything in Small Packages
With a screen size of the frameless 10.1” or the 8.9” model (measured diagonally), the HP netbook can absolutely fit in a purse. And with a weight of only around 2.35 to 2.57 lbs, you won’t even feel that you are carrying an HP mini notebook in your bag.
Like any other laptops, HP netbooks come either with Windows XP Home or HP Mobile Internet built on Linux. It has both Intel Atom processors and wireless 802.11b/g so you can connect to wireless networks where they are available. They also have 5-in-1 built-in memory card readers.
You can connect a separate external USB optical drive to read or write CD & DVDs. 2 USB ports are also included, and also a Bluetooth radio so you can connect your favorite Bluetooth-enabled gadgets. There is also a VGA port to connect to an external monitor or an LCD projector. And with an integrated webcam, you can use VoIP anytime. Graphics are taken care of by Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 or 945. Should you want to listen to music, there are embedded stereo speakers and headphone jacks.
HP Mini with XP has memory of up to 1GB, and can support Hard Disk Drive (HDD) for up to 160GB, and Solid State Drives (SSD) of up to 32GB. HP Mini with MI (HP mobile internet) can have memory of to 2GB, HDD up to 250GB and SSD for up to 64GB.
Compared to full-sized laptops, an HP mini notebook, or netbook, is less in weight and size but can still be as productive as their older predecessors. You can connect & surf the internet through the built-in wireless card, send e-mail, make your presentations, type your work and play casual games. Of course, these HP netbooks may not have the luxury of dedicated video graphic cards, but for the usual officer worker who doesn’t like to carry a heavy laptop on his backpack, an HP netbook is definitely for him.
